CATS: Owners of cats not desexed by 4 months of age are required to pay an $80.00 annual permit in addition to their one-off lifetime pet registration fee. Exemptions:

1. Cats registered by 1 July 2020

2. Cats kept for breeding purposes by members of recognised breeding bodies.

3. Cats that cannot be desexed. A veterinary certificate is required. The vet can update the desexing information and exemption directly onto the NSW Pet Registry. This needs to be done before the cat reaches 4 months of age.

 

DOGS: Owners of dogs of a restricted breed or declared to be a dangerous dog will be required to pay an annual permit of $195.00 in addition to their one-off pet registration fee with NO exemptions.

 

By law, lifetime registration for dogs is due by 6 months of age. If you desex your dog before this time you may be eligible for discounted fees at the time of registration. Vets can provide exemptions to desexing. It is not compulsory to desex your dog.

 

The NSW Govt is in the process of building a new Pet Registry which will allow pet owners to register cats and dogs, update contact details, report missing pets, transfer ownership and pay lifetime registration fees.
